Is there any plugin existing or maybe an idea out there to set a user expiration option? If a user is added by an admin, maybe have an option to set user as inactive at certain intervals (6 mos, 1 year) etc. This could be a really useful feature.

@tgtje thank you for your reply. I'm looking more for a way to end a users site activity rather than having them limited up until a probationary period ends.

You can set a probation period by system (setting applied at sign up time) see /users/options.

Not sure if it works( is usefull for you )  in v2 : Prune Inactive Users  plugin

or ban/unban; but that is manual...(click of a button)

Be aware that new GDPR rules are comming in 2018 for EU sites. There should be option to "remove my existence from your site" = delete user. But you can't do it if there are related data, so there should be option to end user activity on site (change pasword, remove all his data except username etc) I really have no idea how this will be solved on other sites, but in my country there is really havoc because this law.
